Talking Thailand: Director Tom Waller on filming "The Cave"

Anglo-Thai filmmaker, Tom Waller, was born in Bangkok and studied film production at Northern Film School in Leeds before returning to Thailand in 2003 to work as a tea boy on Oliver Stone's ALEXANDER. Since starting his production company De Warrenne Pictures in 2004, he has produced Hollywood movies filmed in the kingdom such as ELEPHANT WHITE and MECHANIC: RESURRECTION, with Jason Statham, Jessica Alba and Tommy Lee Jones. His previous film as director, THE LAST EXECUTIONER, won Thailand's top film award, the "Tukkata Tong" (Golden Doll), for Best Picture in 2015. His latest film THE CAVE, is the first narrative feature film about the cave rescue mission which captivated the world in the summer of 2018.
Synopsis of THE CAVE
When a youth football team of 12 boys, aged 11-16, and their 25-year-old coach is trapped deep inside a cave in Northern Thailand, thousands of volunteers and soldiers from around the world unite in a race against time to find them.  Based on true events, THE CAVE tells the thrilling story of the largest international rescue mission of modern times, from the unique perspective of the men and women facing life-and-death decisions and displaying selfless determination and sacrifice, culminating in a triumphant outcome against all the odds.
