The Anglo-Thai Society
Championing Laos in the United Kingdom
The UK-Laos Society brings together people and organisations with an interest in Laos and the relationship between Laos and the United Kingdom. Our purpose is to champion Laos in the UK and strengthen the relationships and partnerships that connect our two countries. We seek to raise the profile of Laos and create greater opportunities for engagement across education, business, tourism, culture and public life.
Education
We encourage stronger links between Lao and British educational institutions, academics andstudents, supporting opportunities for research and collaboration.
Business
We bring together businesses and organisations interested in developing stronger economicand commercial relationships between Laos and the United Kingdom.
Tourism
We promote greater awareness of Laos as a destination and encourage responsible tourism that supports greater understanding and connection between our countries.
Culture
We celebrate and share the history, heritage, arts and contemporary culture of Laos, creatingopportunities for people in the United Kingdom to discover and engage with the country.
Bringing People Together
At the heart of the Society is a simple ambition: to connect people.
We bring together individuals and organisations from across academia, business, government, tourism, culture, education, development and civil society to build relationships and strengthen UK–Lao connections. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in Laos and its relationship with the United Kingdom.
The Society will host a programme of events bringing together our growing UK–Lao community.Our inaugural event will take place in late 2026 (tbc), followed by events exploring UK–Lao educational links and opportunities for greater business engagement. Further details will be announced shortly.
